kurai onrum illai

my favourite lullaby to my daughter. we all do wish that everything goes well, don't we ?

at the same time, there are neutralizers, like last month when i ran my fathers car into different things twice. and had to shell out more than 25000.

finally somehow, everytime i call my daughter something like rajathi / raja kutti, i am reminded of this pon pakkara scene from alai payuthe.
"naan en ponnungala raani mathiri than valathurukkan"

fyi.......

Don't hesitate to read.... This may help you if you travel in MTC

True Incident!! Fight for rights.

I m working in Chennai (Thoraipakkam). I usually travel by
Metropolitan Transport Corporation(MTC) bus, from jain college stop (Which
is near to my office) to tidel park and from Tidel park I will catch train,
to home. MTC bus coming from kelambakkam(19B,21H) mostly wont stop in tidel
park in early days. So I usually prefer to get into T51 bus, which will
stop in tidel park stop. After some time 19B started stopping in tidel park
also.

Today while returning from office at around 8.30 pm, I was in a hurry to
catch my 9.28 pm train at Tidel park. I got up a bus(19B) in Jain College
at around 8.45 pm, and asked the conductor to give a ticket for tidel park
stop. He said, the bus wont stop there, and he asked me to get down at
signal if it stops there or else get down at stop next to tidel park. I was
arguging with him that I am going daily with the same bus and get down in
the tidel park stop. But he was keep on saying the same thing.. I got
irritated with conductor response. Suddenly I remembered a complaint phone
no.(9884301013) I read in one bus sometime back and noted down in my
mobile. I called that no. and said about the incident that conductor is not
stopping in the usual stop.

The MTC representative (person at the other end) asked me to give the phone
to the conductor. The conductor was not interested to talking with his
official. The MTC rep. asked me the bus registration no. He enquired where
is the bus at that time and I said it is in Kandhanchavadi. The MTC rep.
said he will come in the line and talk to them. I was curious how he will
come and catch the bus.

After few mins. the wireless transmeter(to track the bus), near the driver
in the bus started shouting... Driver stop the bus. Driver stop the bus in
the left side of the road. Driver was not sure what is happening may be his
first experience, for others(including me) it is the real first
experience. The driver stopped the bus and started listening to the
transmeter. The MTC rep. enquired why the bus is not stopping in tidel park
stop. The driver said he stops in tidel park stop and in the previous trip
also he has done. The rep. asked him then why the conductor is saying like
that. He asked the conductor what is the issue. The conductor was
speechless. The driver somehow managed the situation and supported the
conductor by saying that the conductor was new to this route. The driver
asked excuse for the incident and said he will stop in the Tidel Park stop

The MTC rep. said he wanted to talk the passenger who called him. I went
near the transmeter and spoke to the MTC rep. He said sorry for the
incident happened and asked sorry on behalf of MTC. Everyone in the bus
were surprised of things happening. I came back to my seat and I was so
embarrassed as all were looking at me. Few passengers asked me what is the
no. and whom I called. They also took the no. The bus stopped in Tidel Park
stop then. After getting down I called the MTC rep. and said the bus
stopped in the stopping.

It was a nice experience for me and others who travelled in the bus,
including driver and conductor and I was very shocked after this incident.
Yes, nowadays good things are happening in government sector also and
technology is used properly.

early year end post

I am not sure if I am ever going to blog again in the near future, as in long blog with original content. Or if I will ever sit online for four hours not knowng what to do.

2010 is almost over. what a year. Can't explain what I have been through. ups/downs. it was tough. yeah. but i would take it. considering the delta in the number of things than what was done in 2009. except ofcourse getting married. living together is the real deal. Things are happening, but doesn't everything get refined over time ? ;)

but this post is not about 2010. this is about 2011.

Resolutions / wish list:

1) swimming

Imagine sitting in front of television watching croatian or turkish, when the hotel has the best swimming pool in the city. Damn.

2) drink at home

my wife had (no grammar mistake here. from all time fav list - kaaththula yezhudhanum pombalainga sonna solla) promised me a celebratory beer at home, if ever we save up certain money. you know, over and above. I am almost there. but then the below point directly interferes

3) buy a car

this is not really a wish or a resolution, but i am starting to feel the need for one.

4) take a vacation

a real one. like a week at a hill station. Looks like this will be the toughest one.
maybe a couple of weekend trips. like to kerala, coimbatore ? i kinda know that this one is not going to happen. Lets see.

5) take photos

No, i not really interested. Its just like all my pictures come out with shakes (improved in the last one week). But then, we kinda went to thiruvaiyaaru over a weekend, and mr.mani ratnam was sitting on the banks and discussing something over with his assistants. Ramya wanted to have a snap with him. i took one, repositioned and took another . both came out badly. so atleast to not spoil future moments. maybe i can go the Ukil way - Ukil is the intelligent/nice/warm/self-proclaimed sarcastic/compulsively pessimestic/geeky architect in my previous company - he carries around a tripod stand for his camera.

6) Now that i talked about 5 - i have anirudh's first birthday videos. never sent them. add investments submission and pan card application to that.
Damn, i am the worst.

I think thats pretty much what i would like to achieve in the next year :(

and yeah, the el-classico was a big fiasco. i can't digest the same team taking everything - the world cup etc. I mean, cmon, just because you have the players, you must not win everything. It must be in "sharing" basis. :)

Regards,
Ramakrishnan

the week

Monday:
sudharshan rapped me on the shoulders from the behind. i couldn't recognize him. he was my tution mate and college mate.

He was my maths tution mate. we went to Jabbar sir. He charged us based on monthly tests. 100 = 0, 90-100 = 100 80-90 = 150 till i think a max of 300. He will give the questions and mostly walk away. Many people used to copy. I never did. There was a catch - out of the ten 10 mark questions, nine would be from the book and one would require some application of thought. I would mostly score in the range of 80-90, mostly 90. some times, we used to argue with him for a mark, particularly if the score was x9, to go into the lower fee bracket. He would gamely give it away mostly. I hear that he shifted to the more usual 200/month pattern a couple of batches after mine.
Actually, sudharshan was the only guy who would score in the 90-100 bracket.

Wednesday :
gowri waved and started walking towards me in a hotel. i was half guessing her, before which she got up.

A lot of people seem to have set camp at velachery.

Thursday :
anirudh's birthday party. met many people from ambattur, notably sudha's parents.
:)

my neighbours at chepauk

behind - a rowdy gang fully drunk. using empty water bottles to bang it hard rhythmically on the next chair (which was obviously made vacant)

left - a college student with his set of friends. cricket experts.

right - one jolly good friend. who enjoyed whatever happened.

front - a couple of ladies. all dressed up. more into talking. watching whether we were watching the cheer leaders or them

the match was anyways worth the headache. and a couple of filter coffees can clear any ache.

the perfect side dish to beer at home is to take the fountain head, open a random page, and read through it. it will still make you introspect.

The last few days

Empty offices. No calls, thank christ. An impending dead-line seems to have no effect on me. I got to merge a few things tomorrow. I would have normally got very excited, and might have even thrown a few tantrums around. But I just dont seem to get excited about it. Good in a way.

One of the senior architects in our team always asks "how is life?" first thing when he meets someone. No good morning. He just smiles and asks this. I tell him whats up and whats down with work. Till one day when i realised the joke. Halfway through discussing some work, I stopped and said, you asked hows life and i am giving you a status report. He smiled and said almost all did the same and that's a joke he has been enjoying for years.

Wednesday, i shot myself in my foot, quite literally. I disabled the connection on which i was working. And then an angel from US offers to drive down and set it right. On his christmas eve. Well, that guy started it all.The pseudo vacation is going fine.

Thurday, x-mas day, i woke up at 230pm , ate, slept again at around 430 woke up at 830 and i think we saw a movie or was i reading a book ? anyways i slept again at around 12 and woke up the next morning at 9.

Friday, i worked for a few hours, played tt for an hour, worked again, stopped whatever i was doing at around 8 pm, and went to ghajini. Well, the movie was ok. Bhai feels the songs are cool, i am yet to feel it, but with arr, you got to hear the music again and again before eventually you start liking it. What i felt good about the movie (even in tamil) is the way he wants and exacts revenge. I am sure my mom is never gonna read this, But thats one of my primary criteria before getting married. I should be able to physically protect the girl from atleast two persons if not from a bigger gang. Well, you may understand now why i feel i have very little chances of getting married. Ouch, reality hurts.

Saturday, woke up at around 230 again, ate (Full meals at jubilee hills chutney - 110 rs - it was worth it), went shopping. I hadnt really indulged myself this year. I had bought a electic rice cooker and a violin last year, very impulsively.(It all comes swimming in now. I had once asked V to play the guitar. The answer came amidst giggles - "it's a voilin"). And i had also joined violin classes. And i had almost bought a watch for a few thousands. Is it already a year since all that happened?

Well, last new years eve, Me, Cheta and naresh were sitting on top of a core dump. I was sulking and cheta understood. We went to gardenia and then we made naresh drink a couple a pegs of signature and went home. I know, this is kinda turning out to be a year end post, something i had decided to avoid. Me and my decisions!

But somehow i stayed away from it this year (I will wait for arun to say if i missed something). Anyways we three went, bought tt rackets. Set back by 3500 now :( . I hope somebody doesn't ask abdul khaadar-ukkum amaavaasaikkum enna sambandham. :P
Anyways, i damn it on the absence of volleyball players.

Well, saturday continues, I come to office to work, But my partner has already left, probably angered by my 3 hour delay. So i sit there idly because there is no mail from him. And then i watched "A wednesday". Whoa. It was enthralling. I droppped whatever plans i had for work.

And i went home with parcelled chapathis. I had half stopped at the wine shop to make it a perfect saturday. And then i dont know why, i just continued and came home. While taking a dish out of the kitchen, i saw it. A beer bottle that i hadnt opened last week. Well, if destiny had it this way. I had the beer, ate the chapathi, watched football, read for some time and slept.

Now that we are to it, I am reading "a fine balance". Its so far so good. Not essentially a page turner, not much masala, but its nice. (I am really happy about what i am reading these days. I am borrowing both the choices and books from S and V)

And now its sunday, i again woke up late, and came to office. Now there lies a pile of stuff to do. Baselining, building, Testing, merging. I am not starting it and instead made this post bulge and bulge.

near who ?

I gave 200 rupees. He gave me back 70 rupees.

Isn't it 60 ?

No answer. It was 22:45. maybe its the night rate.

(Loudly this time) Isn't it 60 ?

Ledhu sir, 65.

From when?

Hasnt it been like this from the past fifteen days or so ?

Ahan, I bought it at 60 yesterday from you.

reluctantly handed me another 10 rupees.

Since you are a regular customer, sir.

ouch

30 rupees tip for a 2400 bill. and then order a curd rice. 110 rupees. gave a 100 rupees note and asked to pick up the rest from the tip. the waiters were still courteous. tip becomes 20.

Food keeps me going -
Its only afternoon, and I have already had two meals - one at 9 and other at 1. and looking good for a third. Some work also done. This day seems to be working out. Infact i liked the cafe nandini vada so much that i thought about changing my gtalk status message to "food keeps me going".

arun keeps going -
And i had actually bought a couple of extra dosas and vadas for the guys at home. Arun came out of the bathroom and was ironing out his shirt. I was just then having my morning cigarette and reading paper. Arun offered to drop me as he anyway will take time for eating the dosa. I was worried that i had to drop a just lit cigarette. So now i continued. And then arun went to kitchen to pick up the dosa. It wasnt there. The maid had disposed it thinking that it was the previous days'. And then i entered the bathroom to wash my stinking self. And then arun started to office.

kotha bangaaru logam -
music review:
I wondered if the producer or the director went to the music director with a happy days music copy and asked him to clone the feel. I liked most of the songs, yet most of them made me feel that I have heard the tune already. Maybe its only me.

Note : The song posted is not necessarily the best of the lot.

Adhiradikkaara machan -

Even if you are rajni, isn't there a time to beat up baddies ? Just before the song, shreya is in a white saree and all that.
Damn your sense shankar.

Box box box

As arun says, this blog is my punching bag.

am feeling good now.

Good luck guys

I have this two young friends - one is slightly younger than me, and the other is a real kiddo. These guys talk to me about some issues now and then. By virtue of having faced my share of quarter life crises, i sometimes give free gyaan to these guys.
The kid has the worst of the problems. The classic "I like a girl, but things are not proceeding" thing. I listen to him, and when he asks something, i sometimes can't resist giving a piece of my mind. I mean at 26, I have come across a few likable girls . But then i realize that any advice would only be just that - advice.
So conclusion is people in love don't talk to you about it for anything. They just want to talk about it. I mean i have known this all my life, but the realization dawned only recently.
So even when he is really down like " my life is a waste without her" , i don't comment on it and i ask something off-context like about the girl, or the times they spent etc. It actually puts a smile on his face.
I sincerely wish these guys good luck in their current concerns.
